A new colleague

Three months ago my life was in a perfect order. A few weeks after that, it was a complete mess. “What happened?” you might ask yourself. I’ll tell you soon. I just need to seat comfortably and take my tea.
I had a good job, you know, being a part of a young successful team that works for clients all around the world, making all kinds of software and hardware solutions for them, is a dream job of every young engineer. I was in touch with people from different walks of lives and had a chance to learn something from them and at the same time help them to improve their businesses. It was all going smoothly until she came. She got employed by our boss as somebody who was supposed to push us towards the edge of the latest technology, someone who has just graduated as the best student and someone with fresh ideas. Although we have had a great team where it was known the place of everyone, we welcomed her with hope that she would fit in and make us even better.
After the first meeting that we held together it seemed that everything would be okay and things would be going as usual, but it wasn’t longer than a month when some changes started to happen. As the only girl in the team I had all possible respect from the colleagues and I can’t hide it, sometimes admiration which just made me feel better at work. I haven’t dressed up every day, but there were days when I tried to look better, not only for the clients, but for the colleagues, too. When she was introduced to me we exchanged friendly smiles and I finally thought that there was somebody of my kind who I could talk to. But, as a matter of fact, this feeling didn’t last for long. Jenny’s name was shouted more and more by the team, and my name, Lisa, was mentioned less and less. She was as pretty as me, maybe her hair was longer but I couldn’t see the difference between the two of us. I tried to be even nicer to the people at work, but it was obvious that they liked working with Jenny better. Since I wanted my position back I had to think of something new, but I didn’t know what. I didn’t want to do anything bad. I just wanted my colleagues’ admiration again.

One evening after a tiring day at work I went to a local bar, I had a few drinks, which I rarely do, and got drunk quite fast. One girl from my block of flats was there and she suggested going somewhere else, which I accepted delightfully. We took a taxi and went to the other part of the city, with all kinds of night life. We entered one of the bars without noticing what was written on the entrance. After we had ordered the drinks we saw that there were only couples around us and we realized that it was a place where single people didn't come. I didn’t like the place, but we couldn’t leave immediately because our drinks were served. And it wasn’t all for that evening. After some time I spotted somebody familiar. It was Jenny, and she was kissing some man. I pretended that I hadn't seen her.
The next day at work, I told one of the colleagues what I saw. It wasn’t longer than two days until my team started calling my name more and more often.
